Dear Lucas,

You should know that already we love you so much. I've never seen your Daddy so excited for anything in his life before. He's ready to do anything and everything to your nursery and get it all ready. Your furniture came in yesterday and he tried to pick up just the crib (all that would fit in the Fit), but they would only let him take all or nothing, so we're getting it all this weekend. He really wanted to get your crib and have it built for me when I came home from work. (Daddy took the day off to get some nursery things done for you).

We love thinking about how handsome and adorable you will be, and how you will fit right into our beautiful life. You have so many people who love you already. Your Mommy is very excited to have a snugly little boy baby around, even though we were sure you'd be a girl baby. Already you're giving us the best surprises and you're not even here yet!

You might be wondering how you got your name... Your middle name was never a question - Joseph is after your great grandpa, my Papa. Papa died over 4 years ago, the night before my birthday. I was his only grandchild and we were very, very close. I was with him for 3 straight days up until that night and with him when he left us. He told me he'd always be watching over me and I think he is bringing you to us. You would have loved everything about him; he was such a good, sweet man. And I know he would love you and would want to meet you if he could. He spoiled me growing up, just like I know your grandparents are going to do to you. We'll have to watch them with that! :) Joseph is your middle name because 6 weeks after Papa Joe died, Mommy rescued a 6 week old puppy that was born the same day he died. You'll meet her when you arrive and she's going to be a great big sister, even if her name is Joey.

Your first name is a name both Daddy and Mommy have loved for awhile now. I can't remember exactly how it came to us, (possibly a book we bought in 2007 when we first started thinking about you coming into our family), but it's a name we both fell in love with. There were very few and none seemed good enough for you. We like that it's not too, too popular, but not too unique either. We also love Luke, so we figure you have two good, solid choices to go by and we'll see what suits you best.

We can't wait to meet you, but please, stay in there for some more time! I am here for you and will do anything to keep you safe and happy in there. Whatever you need little baby Lucas.
