Nursery (In Progress) Tour...

Since we got our bedding last night and I HAD to wash it and put it on the crib, I decided to do a nursery tour, even though we still have a lot to do. But the biggest things are done, I think!

Here is the view from walking in the door. Right now there are just cheap white blinds on the window and the plan was to do 2 inch wood blinds, but we'll get to that when we can. I'm in no hurry.

My husband also has to put the rest of knobs on. I was going to change them out (possibly paint my own) and decided it wasn't worth the time/money. They're fine.

To the left when you walk in is our dresser/changing table combo. (We still need the changing pad/covers for it obviously, but those will go on top, likely with a small basket for diapering essentials). The wall straight ahead and above the chair will have the 3 10x10 canvas fabric squares hung vertically.
And here it is ...our bedding! I really like it! It brightens things up just enough and keeps things fun and modern, at least I hope! I hung the bird mobile today as well, but I'm not sure it's a "permanent" hang. I just used a 3M thing on the ceiling, but so far that seems fairly sturdy so we'll see. I think I may want to move the mobile to the right some though... not sure where they are supposed to sit exactly.

Just a few things up in his closet. Can you tell mom likes light blue and brown? That blue sweater is the one I made :)
Still needs lots of organization in the closet, right now it's just holding things we're not using yet and I hung up a few clothes, but those need to be organized as well.
Here is what is on top of the changing table/dresser right now. The artwork will be hung, horizontally, above it. I started making this bear (for someone else, a bunch of people I know had just had babies) just before I found out I was pregnant. I finished it the night before I took my pregnancy test and made "him" with a little blue scarf, obviously having no clue we were having a boy (and really thinking it was a girl!) I had to keep him for Lucas. My first "boy" gift soon after we found out - a sweet picture frame that says "Sweet Baby" and "It's a Boy" on it. I put a picture of Lucas's feet from our big ultrasound in there. And a little cup my mom picked up. I need to figure out something cute and practical to put in there!
Another view of the crib and mobile set up.
I love the bedding!

On the other dresser I have framed 3 of our ultrasound pictures as Lucas grew. 6 weeks 2 days, 8 weeks 3 days, and 18 weeks 3 days. Need to put more family pictures in the frame, right now I have a really old picture of my Papa Joe who Lucas is named after.

Nothing is organized all that well right now, but here are some of his clothes. Onesies and Baby Legs.
Bath drawer (not sure we'll keep that all in the nursery): Terry outfits, towels, wash clothes, etc.
Blankets (I knit the one on the right), baby uggs!
More onesies and gowns.
The top drawer of the changing table/dresser will have our cloth diapers. Still need to get our prefolds and a few more covers (and possibly a few more fitteds or AIO's). There are, right now, 3 Bum Genius bamboo fitteds, 6 Kissaluv 0 fitteds, 3 BG AIO's and 3 covers (Thirsties and a Bummies).

  1. It looks fantastic! I love everything you've done, it's so calming, which is great. Is your crib from JC Penney? I love it! I am so excited to do the cloth diapering, too. :)

  2. Thanks! Yes, furniture (well, not the chair, that is a Best Chair) is from JCP!

  4. Looks fabulous! I'm amazed at how many things you already have in the drawers and in the nursery. I'm now feeling behind. :)
Keep up the great work. Still envious of your knitting!

  5. i love your nursery!! i'm looking at JCP rockland furniture as well. i'm just a little scared to buy it sight unseen. i read some reviews on the dressers and some thought the drawers were a little flimsy. are you happy with all the pieces and the quality? are the drawers made of particle board? we were looking at some sets at BRU and the quality on some seemed so cheap. love any feedback!!

  6. I think the quality is pretty decent for the price. The drawers aren't super heavy, but they are sturdy and I wouldn't call them flimsy. The only thing I have noticed is that I can easily scratch it with my nails if I hit it wrong, but that was before we put the knobs on and I was trying to open drawers without knobs. I figure it's going to get beat up with a kid anyway and it's not like we spent a ton of money on it so it's not a big deal to me, but some might be really annoyed with that. I've looked at furniture and cribs in stores too and feel it's higher quality than what I saw at BRU, USA Baby, etc. I'm not 100% sure about the particle board, but I just asked my husband and he said no, he doesn't think they are. HTH!
