I Passed...?

It's Wednesday morning now and I have still not heard from my midwife. I know they said they'd only call if there was a problem, but I almost wish now that they'd call either way. I'm so scared to feel relieved only to have them call and tell me they got the results late or something, but they told me they'd call Monday if the results needed to be discussed. After Monday I felt some relief and after no call on Tuesday I think it's fairly safe to say (unless this is some cruel joke) that I passed my 1 hour test and do not have Gestational Diabetes. Honestly, I really thought I would get it just because my insulin and other hormone levels are already so screwed up in my body. Why should it do something RIGHT concerning hormones during pregnancy if it can't even function correctly when not pregnant? So I am pretty shocked and happy.

It's also funny in that now that I (as far as I know) do not have Gestational Diabetes I feel ready to eat even healthier. Isn't that weird? It was almost as if before the test, when I was convinced I was going to have it, I wanted to eat everything I could because I still could and expected to be put on a strict diet after. Now that I am not, I am not tempted by sweets and white carbs because I know that they can be eaten if I so choose. Talk about the major affects of wanting what you can't have saying! All weekend long I was thinking things like "oh my God, these could be my last chocolate chip pancakes", etc. Now that I can have them whenever I want, I am in no hurry to scarf them down.

After finishing Lucas's sweater coat for winter, I decided it needed a matching hat to be more of a complete "winter set" I guess. So I made this hat last night and the night before. MUCH faster than the sweater! haha

I love the way it came out and it was so easy. It was a pattern for beginners that was meant to be knit on straight needles and then seamed together, but I just modified it some and did all in circulars. The beauty of it? Because of the non traditional top of it - no double pointed needle knitting!

His hat, sweater coat, oh, and Lucas. He had to be in the picture as well, because, well, at 29 1/2 weeks there aren't many places for him to go! I am going to miss him being there all the time!

Not much else is going on around here. Just taking it easy when I don't have to work (which it appears is the case today). I got a lot done Monday (laundry and cleaning) that it is really nice to only have a little to do today. I may organize Lucas's clothes because right now they are all just washed, folded, and put in drawers in no particular order. It's in the mid 90's today and going to be even hotter the rest of the week. Sometimes I really miss Michigan weather, like in the summer! I also sold another mobile on Etsy and have a Facebook friend ordering one and wall art as well. I can't believe how fast this is taking off! I'm so thankful!!!

  1. That's so awesome about your Etsy orders. I've thought now and then about starting a store, but I wasn't sure if it would be worth the effort.

  2. You should! For knitting? The only downside to that is you have to be really careful about selling things made from patterns b/c technically you're not supposed to. It's sad though, because SO many Etsy sellers with knit things do it.
