Baby Sweater Progress...or Not...

I am an instant gratification person I think. Once I get it in my head to do something, I have to DO it. It's killing me that my sewing machine is not here yet. I want to make something! In the meantime, I've been trying to get myself to work on Lucas's first sweater, but again, the instant gratification trait in me is having trouble. I like hats b/c I can start them and finish them (and see progress) at lightning speed. This sweater, while I LOVE working w/ this yarn (organic cotton that is so soft!) is knit in separate pieces and then put together. So for some time it just looks like boring squares. But I am going to get working on it again since I have all the yarn for it and need to finish it so I can judge if I want to use it as part of a "coming home outfit" for him. I am thinking a little white onesie with this over it if needed and some bootees to match this.
Here is the girl version I have made of this sweater. For his I think I am going to make two "back" pieces so it's not open in front and more of a boat necksweater. I'm not sure I love that look though, and it doesn't take away from this sweater, so I may do it as shown below and instead of the bow make a button hole there. Or nothing at all and it can be a little "jacket" type sweater.
We got our crib mattress yesterday! I don't know why, but putting it IN the crib made things seem much more official. I can't wait until I can order the bedding and get that in there!

  1. Oh, what stitch is that you're doing on the sweater? It looks different-very neat looking.

  2. It's just a garter stitch! So easy. You just knit every row (flat) or in the round knit a round and purl a round ;)
