I can't believe 2008 is finally over. On one hand, technically 2008 was great for me, but really, just the last 5 days of the year. The rest of the year was spent worrying about how broken my body was. It was not a happy year. But it ended on a high note and hopefully 2009 will be the best year ever!
I am sitting here on our big comfy chair right now typing away as I contemplate what to do with myself for the next 3 1/2 days that I have off still. I know it's silly, but I am afraid to over do it in these first few weeks so that I give the baby the best possible chance of staying nice and healthy in there. I've been doing some laundry around here and keeping the dishes done as well as vacuuming when it's needed (a lot w/ 3 dogs!) but other than that I just don't care.
This morning I went out to my barn (I have a horse) to clean her up. Thankfully she wasn't too dirty so it wasn't a huge work out. I'm not going to be riding during this pregnancy and I am totally ok with that. I know many people that do or think I am being silly, but why not take every extra precaution if you can? My horse will live and be perfectly happy and I will just feel better about it. I couldn't live w/ myself is something happened so why put that extra stress out there?
Shopped with my mom a little bit today. We stopped at Target on the way home from the barn and I got those Belly Bars. I am not a big snacker at all so it's hard for me to think of stuff to have around me if I suddenly get really hungry so I thought those would be good. They have all the folic acid and iron you need and 8 grams of protein in 1 bar which is really, really good. They actually taste decent too which is rare for a bar they try to pass off as food generally. It's also with out and genetically modified soy, hydrogenated oils, etc. which is good for a girl like me. :)
We also browsed the baby section. Let me just go on record saying there is A LOT of tacky baby shit out there. I did see a travel system I loved that was either brown and orange or black and orange (I forgot) and very cool. I like cool baby stuff. :) And it would match my orange car which, being the dork I am, I found pretty spectacular. I have no idea what brand it even is and the ratings, but it's very early and I'll have plenty of time to find out if I end up liking that the best.
We also found packs or organic cotton onesies! Same price as the regular ones! Cotton is crop that uses the highest amount of pesticides so finding as many organic cotton things as possible is really important to me though I know we'll have a lot that's not and that's cool too. They were so soft!
Yesterday I bought a Bella Band. I know it's super early and I don't need one yet, but many of pants (work pants) are super tight on my belly. I'm just used to that and deal or suck it in a bit, but now I just don't feel like that's a good idea so I've got the Bella Band to work with for awhile and will be able to be comfortable and without worry in my pre pregnancy clothes for quite some time.
