I have been on pins and needles for the past couple days. Everything Monday looked how it should, but I still hadn't got any beta information. That is the blood test that measures the amount of pregnancy hormone in your blood. A pee stick just measures if it's there or not, but in early pregnancy your beta numbers should at least double every 48 hours. Many people do not get these because they are either a lot further along when they find out or they haven't going through infertility treatments so there isn't as much "worry".
So I had my first blood test on Monday (and thank God for Shiloh who is the best stick EVER and who got me on the first try, in my ARM (normally, after being poked in both arms it ends up in my hand w/ a baby needle) without any passing out or too much pain).
I went in for my 2nd today at about 11:00 which was about 44 hours after my first, not 48. But my Dr. told me to come in early so they could rush the results and get back to me today instead of having to wait until Monday which would be sheer torture. So she said that if it doesn't double exactly, but is close, that's still wonderful.
My actual Dr. just called me at 2:00 to give me the results. First of all, my old ob/gyn NEVER called me. I rarely even saw him and had to deal with his awful nurse who I hated. She said, "I have great news" and instantly I felt a huge relief and everything felt a little more real. My first beta was in the low 2,000's (I can't remember the exact numbers b/c I was so excited) and today's was 4,500!!!! So it MORE than doubled in less than 48 hours!
My progesterone was 16.4 which my Dr. said was good and she was happy with that. No need for nasty progesterone shots or anything to supplement.
I know we're still not out of the woods yet and it's still very early, but so far things are progressing as they should which is such a miracle. I am just in awe of how my body could do this and so, so thankful and hope that everyone else who wants this gets to be here soon enough.
