I am having my first big freak out, oddly enough, it's over nursery decor. Yup, totally calm and excited about caring for another life, but making a choice about nursery decor is giving me a heart attack. I think it's knowing I had one totally picked out (first picture), but always knowing I loved the second idea too and realizing I may never be pregnant again and getting to decorate a 2nd nursery. I love both of these, for different reasons and now I can't decide even though I was so sure I knew what I wanted. I'm having a hard time finding just the right paint and bedding for the natural look I want though.

In this picture - the bedding shown is Alex by Serena and Lily, which I probably wouldn't buy, but either have something really similar made or find similar separates since all I really want are sheets and a crib skirt. Also, if you choose #2 - what do you think about paint? Navy? I don't want white walls, so that seems like the only option.
I really like the first picture because I love the nature look and natural feel. I also like the dark furniture. You can add color by picking a color for sheets and things and your accessories.
ReplyDeleteThe second one is nice but I am not a fan of dark walls so I probably would not pick that for myself.
I really like the natural / nature one. It's definitely got more character :)
ReplyDeletebest of luck
I copied the "natural" picture from you the first time you posted it and have it saved in my "dream nursery" file. And then I found the original on the rate your space website and bookmarked it, too. I really love it.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I do really like the second option you chose and having bright colors is always a good thing for babies' eyes and interest. If I did the second one, I would put a high wainscoting like they have in the picture of the crib and then I would do a stripe pattern of a pale green that matches the green you've chosen. Do a matte and then a wet-look finish of the same color alternating in thick stripes around the room. Easy to do, gives dimension and isn't a plain wall. I don't think I would do navy because that would be really dark and heavy and that seems contradictory to your sensibilities.
(For the record, though... I think you will be happy with either one you choose... but I think your heart's with the natural.)
Out of the two choices, I like the first one best. If I were chosing a nursery, though, I would add more color for baby's stimulation. I digress, since it's not about me :)
ReplyDeleteI love the first one. I saw it on Rate My Space and loved it immediately! Also, kinda random...but I thought it would go well with your green mama philosophy :) http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=42778&pid=623410&scid=623410002
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone!
ReplyDeletePretty much everyone likes #1, but we are really leaning towards the navy. I think I will get bored of #1 and the biggest problem is that I really don't think I can pull it off (based on what I am finding for paint and fabrics) the way I want which is sad.
Alaina - I totally bought that onesie weeks ago! lol I love it - thanks for thinking of me!
Navy all the way! I love brighter colors though and I think that color combo is so cute!
