I think of myself as a pretty crunchy person at times. I'm into the more natural things and care greatly about chemicals and all that icky stuff, esp when it comes to what I put in (usually, don't be put off by the fried pickles) or on my body.
I was delighted to find this company. Belli is a skin care company that was formulated by a doctor and that screens each ingredient it uses in terms of chemicals linked to birth defects. There is a pregnancy, motherhood, and baby line. I ordered the Acne Facial Wash last week and just got it and can't wait to use it! It smells soooo good.
Here is a review I found from another "crunchy mama".
"Filed Under Product Reviews, paraben free
Here I am, continuing the quest for paraben-phthalate-dioxane-free baby care products …onward! I recently had the sheer pleasure of trying out a few products from Belli, a company that creates safe and luxurious skin care products for Mom and Baby. The Belli folks very kindly sent me a batch of samples from both lines and I am just smitten with this company. Smitten.
Of course, what makes me adore them the most is their safety standards which are impeccably high. They use organic ingredients when possible and do extremely thorough testing to ensure not only that their products are not only paraben and phthalate free but completely free of ALL xenoestrogens - “chemicals which can act like hormones that interfere with normal development of the reproductive system.” See? This mom is totally in love.
The other obvious thing that struck me was how elegant this product line is packaged. The products are all beautiful and would make a great gift for any pregnant mom or new mother. The packaging is all #1 PETE plastic or glass and just have a simple and pretty appearance so you don’t feel like you’re using something a hippie made in their basement. Bonus!
I had a chance to try some of the Belli Pregnancy product line, notably the Belli Acne Clearing Face Wash, the Elasticity Belly Oil and the Pampered Pregnancy Body Wash. The body wash is lightly scented and leaves you feeling clean and soft without any harshness to it. I often recoil at the strong lavender smells on many products and this was quite the opposite. I even caught my husband using it. The face wash was gentle enough for me to use… I have some mild rosacea that was not irritated by it at all. Lastly the Belly Oil, goes on smooth and absorbs well so you don’t feel like a big grease-ball all day. Since I am not currently pregnant I handed this over to a pregnant friend and she’s been oiling up daily. Her words “It makes you feel feminine, not like a channel swimmer.”
I also had the chance to try out some of the Belli Baby line as well. The Baby Belli Calm Me Hair and Body Wash foams up great and has a really light “infant” scent, which I think is really what they call “marigold and chamomile” but I swear it reminds me of a fresh newborn. My son is prone to “bed head” and his hair stayed smooth, even after a long nap. Their Belli Baby Nourish Me Lotion is really light and soaks in quick while leaving skin feeling soft. I’ll admit to using it on myself at my desk because I can’t stand greasy hands while I type and this absorbs fast and leaves you “dry” but super silky soft. I swear. I’m not blowing sunshine up your bum here. I stole it to keep for myself. But it works great on my son too… I tend to not use lotion on my son unless he needs it for dry patches. But when he needs it, this is a great one since it’s not a thick cream. This lotion cures his sometimes rashy ankles.
My next purchase is going to be the Stretchmark Minimizing Cream (I know you needed to know that, right? Hey, I am all about full disclosure here… ) and more of the Belli Baby Nourish Me Lotion….for me. Yes, I like it that much.
All their products come in hefty sizes so it’s a good value for the pricing. I am about to attend a baby shower for someone expecting twins and I think they’ll be getting some of this as a gift. It just looks fancy and feels fancy, without the worry of the harsh and controversial xenoestrogens that could cause harm.
Belli Skin Care gets all thumbs up from this mama. "
