I think this is part of the nesting phase I am entering, but I am thinking of changing up this blog's look a bit (it just seems so blah to me) and also making a new "baby" blog for when Lucas comes. One that I would share with our families who are all over the country with the exception of my parents who live near us. It would be a blog I'd share with our friends and family (right now, only a few friends and family read this one) so they could keep up with Lucas and how we're doing and then our readers from here could venture over there as well. What do you think?
As for the look of this one, I don't know...I'm so torn between something crunchy and nature like (like what I have) and something more bright and modern. Those are two styles that I am constantly torn between for most things in life, so it doesn't surprise me that I am thinking about it here, especially with my hormones lately! Speaking of which, I've already spend the day being made fun of because I called my mother crying from my car last night on my way home from work. Why? No, nothing was wrong. Lucas and I are fine. No one died. Brooks & Dunn have split up.
Yes, this made me sob in my car when I heard it on the radio. There is more to it than that though. My first two tapes of my own were a Reba tape and Brooks & Dunn's first release. They were what got me into country music (something very unlike how I was raised, my family, and my community at the time) and what eventually led me to Nashville. I was about 6 when I got these tapes, so almost 20 years ago. I have few memories of a world without Brooks & Dunn. I know that sounds silly, but it was a huge part of my childhood and I feel like they are letting me down my breaking up. It's the end of an era. You know you're a grown up when a band you've loved since their conception 20 years ago is breaking up to retire the band. I feel old. And sad.

I like the look of the blog right now, but your blog is so often about your love of projects and design and "cleaning house" and so it makes sense that you redesign it pretty regularly. I'll look forward to what you come up with!
ReplyDeleteI think you could come up with a really great hybrid of modern and crunchy at the same time. I'm thinking of clean, floral/leaf/foliage motifs on a white backdrop... it can totally be done :)
I'm curious - is there a specific reason you want to start a "new" baby blog? I think you could totally have that at this address and it would still make perfect sense, and then it would all be in one place (pregnancy + babyhood) and create this neat timeline. Unless you perhaps want to limit who knows the address of the new one?
Thanks girl :) I've been working on the look of the new blog and think I am going to make this one kind of similar.... we'll see!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, the reason for the "new" blog is actually the opposite of that. I want a blog to share with family, but I don't necessarily want to share THIS one. ;) So I will just start a new baby one and everyone who reads this can read that, but family reading the new one won't be able to get to this one, does that make sense? haha
There must be something to the nesting/redesigning the blog thing, because I did just that yesterday. Still not satisfied with my latest rendition, but it's always a work in progress. I do understand the desire to have separate blogs, but I think much of my family has now discovered mine so it's too late for me!
ReplyDeleteAh - yes, that totally makes sense :)
ReplyDeleteI am always switching around my blogs... I think I've had two or three in the short time I've been commenting here! So I totally get it :)
